If you think you might be interested in serving as Assistant Sunday School Superintend, please let Polly or Lesa, Cindy know.
Boy, our farmer friends are sure making head way in getting their crops in, please continue to remember them in prayer for a safe time in the fields and around the farms.
Last week we took up a free-will offering to get phone cards for the veteran. I believe this is a good idea to help out. Polly is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and she will be handling it, if you have any questions about this please ask Polly.
What a beautiful day last Sunday was with a baptism, and Paul and Becky coming forward to rededicate their life to the Lord and to ask God to help them renew there love in their marriage. I believe sometimes we all need to rededicate our lives and marriages to the Lord. I believe it make us all stronger in the Lord, and our marriages even stronger.
Don’t forget next Saturday night here at the church at 6:00p.m for the Appreciation Dinner. It will be a time of relaxing and enjoying each others company, so if you can please come and enjoy. If you have time this month write someone a note. Tell them how much you appreciate them, and share with them what they have done to help you. Or maybe what they do here at church.
It was so wonderful to see new faces here last Sunday morning, and I know you all made them feel loved and welcome.
Have you ever wander why some people go around with a long face and maybe never smile. Or say what I have to smile about. Maybe you are the one to put a smile where a frown is. If you have time read Philippians chapter 2. It might help all of us also.
Pray for the lost, and those around you and each other. Take time to read Gods word and share it.

Do not forget about the Appreciation Dinner on the 16th of October, just bring yourselves and enjoy an evening of good fellowship.
We will be having a baptism this morning Jeremy Scott Peterson will be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. As he is being baptized, it might be a good time for us all to remember our own baptism and our walk with God. Are you as close to Him now as you were when you were baptized or have you strayed away some? Now would be a good time to renew your commitment to the Lord.
But, now this is what the Lord says--he who created you, OF Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. (Isaiah 43: 1,2)
As we go through this life, and all the turmoil that it has, I think about the beauty that God has created for us in Heaven. He created the beauty in this world also, and we need to enjoy what He has given us here. Take some time and read about the beauty that God has in store for us.
As we go through this next week remember those who are on our prayer concerns and the others mention here this morning.

On October the 16th, Carolyn, I, and the girls will be having our appreciation dinner for all of you. This is a way we can show you all our appreciation. The dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. Please mark your calendar and try to attend. Have you ever thought about what sin is? Sin is such a small word with a lot packed into it. People might say I only broke a small commandment but a sin is a sin. There are no gray areas, it is either right or wrong The source of sin does not come from the outside, but from within. Those who say they have no sin, whether they are believers or unbelievers, think that they attainted perfection in their life do not understand what sin is or they do not know how holy God is. James gives a definition of how sin is birth in James 1: 14-15. But each one is tempted when by his owns evil desires, he is dragged away and enticed, then after desire has been conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when it is full grown, give birth to death. These are a few things about sin, I am a sinner. In my life, there are some things I wish I had not done. I am sure that I am not the only one, the Ten Commandments are Gods rules and commands for us to live by. If you have sin, please go to God and ask for His forgiveness as well as those who you may have sinned against. We have an awesome and forgiving God. It is a shame people cannot be forgiving and loving as well. Continue to pray for one another, and remember God loves a cheerful giver.

Welcome to our Homecoming today, it has been a while since some of you have been here and it is nice to see you all here today. As we have our welcoming this morning, and our dinner and then our program, welcome everyone here today. Take time to talk about the old days and things that made you all happy. Then in the afternoon program, when Polly asks you for memories, share them with us. I know I would like to hear them. To many times our memories are put a side and we never here them, so please share them today. In October, it will be appreciation month, so show your appreciation to each other through a card or a phone call. It does not take that much time to do. Remember when the prodigal son returned home, and his father, showed him love and appreciation. As a Christian, we are to share our love and let our light shine, not only with Christians, but we are to share our light in dark places also. We need to share the Gospel or Jesus Christ wherever we are, with who ever will listen. In November, we will be having the Community Thanksgiving program, at West Point Christian Church. Please mark your calendars so we do not forget. I will post more on this later. Monday evening at 7:00 pm, we will hold our quarterly business meeting here at the church. I pray that each of us will receive a blessing from our Lord today. If you have a testimony today, won’t you share sometime during the day? Maybe a healing or something that God has done for you or your family. I praise God for each of you, and I pray He will lay a blessing or healing on you today. This is the day that the Lord hath made be glad and rejoice in it. Please enjoy the day with us and our savior Jesus Christ.

I would like to see everyone here at Union Baptist Church, on September 12 of 2010. Is it to much to ask our church family to attend the Homecoming? There is a lot of work and time put into this celebration by all the committees and the ones who get things lined around not only for the morning service, but for dinner, and then the afternoon service, so please let us all try to be in attendance, and lets just praise the Lord. This last week has sure been my kind of weather, not to hot in the day and cool nights, hope you all have enjoyed the weather also. Have you ever thought about a good time to pray and how often we should pray and where we should pray and for what shall I ask and pray? I met a friend of Carolyn’s and mine the other day at Wal-Mart, she explained to me that her cancer was no longer in remission and that it was in her throat and esophagus. The Lord laid it on my heart to pray for her right then, so I did. I did not hesitate; I did what the Lord laid upon my heart. I believe many people need to do what the Lord asks them to do no matter where they may be. Remember when Jesus was on the cross He prayed to the Father. This might take us out of our comfort zone and we might say not now Lord, maybe next time, then there might not be a next time. Then what? Take time this week to pray for the sick in our congregation and for those prayer concerns this morning. Take time to call someone who has not been here for a while. Try to enjoy some of the cool weather we are having.

As we go through this big wide, wonderful world that God has built for us. Let us all do what we can to bring people into His Kingdom. Let us ask ourselves why we are here, and what are we suppose to do for our Lord? I truly believe He wants us to share what we have with others, and pray for those who are sick, maybe they have lost a job, or have a financial problem, maybe they just need someone to talk to, or an ear to listen to them, or maybe a meal. I am so glad that Polly has started this program with helping out the Kokomo Mission. We as Christians need to get out in our neighborhood and around our community and invite people to church. When was the last time you invited someone to come to church with you? Maybe you are looking for comfort or you may know someone around you who is, have them look up Psalm 46:1-3, Psalm 138: 7, Psalm 18: 2 Psalm 22: 24 Psalm 37:24, Psalm 55:22 These are some great verse for those who are in need of comfort. Well most of the schools have started except for Clinton Central, they will start here in about a week. So continue to be careful for the children getting on buses and be alert for those children who are crossing the roads to get on buses. Pray for the teachers and the school staff as the new school year begins. If you children know of children that do not go to church invite them to come here on Sundays. Maybe you are the one who will bring them unto God. Pray for those who are in need of prayer, and continue to work for the Lord in your daily routine. May He bless and keep you in His Hands

I do not know who cut the weeds away from the sign down on the corner of 29 and 800 but whoever did it I thank you. Last week it was mentioned in church that we all need to pray for the devil to leave our church family alone and that each person that has a problem that God will correct it. When Satan attacks the Body of people of God, we must be doing something that makes Satan mad and that is living for the Lord. As we begin a new week, let us all remember that God has everything under control. We need to take our problems of health, financial, maybe a marriage problem, our children, or whatever it is that keeps us from doing Gods work. Take it to the Lord. As we take communion this morning, please go to the Lord sometime during the service, and prepare your heart and other problems that you have so you can receive what God has in store for you this morning. Take time to be Holy before the Lord. Get rid of any sins that might hinder you from taking communion this morning. We need to continue to pray for each other and for those who need to come unto the Lord. During this hot weather, please be careful not to get to hot and drink a lot of water. Make sure your animals are well water also. Please show your love and patience with everyone you meet, you never know, you might be entertaining Angels. May God bless each of us and may you be a blessing to someone else. Try to enjoy some of the cool weather we are having.

The last two weeks has sure been a trying time not only for us, but also for a lot of brothers and sisters here in our congregation. Some have had some tests, some have been put in the hospital, and some have had surgery. I know that we all thank you for your prayers and concerns for each of these people. I praise the Lord for all that He has done and for the blessings, He has bestowed upon each of them these past two weeks. I know that He has been there for all of us in our time of need. Again, I just praise Him. As I was praying the other evening I thanked God for His words of comfort and loving words He has put in print for us in His Holy Word. I am sorry for not getting around to everyone who has had problem this last couple of weeks, but you each have been in my prayers both day and night. As we begin a new week, let us all take time to really have a long talk with God. About the way things are going in our lives, is there something troubling you or maybe a sin, which has got you bound up so tight you cannot handle it. Our precious Lord is always waiting on us to come and talk with Him and let Him take our burdens of life away from you. Maybe Satan is getting under your skin or he is trying to keep you away from God. Jesus says to tell Satan to get behind you and leave you alone. Have you ever thought about why Satan does not bother some Christians? If as a Christian you are not spreading the Gospel of Jesus and doing what Jesus wants you to do, then Satan does not have to bother you because we are not working for God, we are just in a comfort zone. Pray for each other and love one another.
